September 25, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Human Trafficking Prevention & Biblical Justice
Adult Education Session
Sunday, September 25 from 9:00 to 10:00 am in the Purple Room

Our Local Outreach Team and Church Council would like to invite you to an adult education session about Biblical Justice and human trafficking prevention (child-care is available during our education hour). We are committed to helping end human trafficking in Orange County and around the world, and are partnering with A21, a local non-profit in Costa Mesa, in their fight against modern slavery.

Human trafficking is the recruitment, control, and use of people for their bodies and for their labor. It is modern-day slavery and affects millions of men, women, and children across the globe; it is also astoundlingly prevalent in our local community.

According to the 2019 Human Trafficking Victim Report produced by the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force:
1 in every 4 victims of modern slavery is a child; Of the 415 Orange County human trafficking victims assisted in 2017 and 2018, 87% were victims of sex trafficking.

At this 40-minute educational session, you will learn:
The reality of modern-day slavery and A21’s work to abolish it.
How to recognize and report potential scenarios of human trafficking.
The meaning of Biblical Justice and God’s desire for true, divine justice (Psalm 82:3-4, Psalm 89:14).
About upcoming opportunities to support the fight against human trafficking – Walk for Freedom and additional educational resources, including a Parent Guide for Teens or Kids.

If you feel inspired to give to A21, please let us know because we will match any gifts given toward the Walk for Freedom (Sat, Oct 15th) up to $7500. Simply give at https://www.a21.org/content/donate/grlpag and send a copy of your giving receipt to nasiracooley@gmail.com

Presented by Chapman University Professor: Nasira Burkholder-Cooley, DrPH, RDN

Nasira is currently an adjunct faculty member at Chapman University and private practice registered dietitian. She serves as the nutritionist for the ABT Gillespie School at Segerstrom Center for the Arts and the Chapman University School of Dance.
